Overcoming Obstacles

I decided to launch Kohl Designs after years in the corporate world.  When working in a corporate environment, sometimes you have co-workers or even clients that can be overly challenging. Demanding deadlines and even tight financial budgets can make even the nicest person act less than professional at times. When dealing with difficult situations, co-workers, and clients, it’s helpful to remember these simple tips:

  • Be professional. As easy as it would be to snap back, remember they may just be having an off day. Remember the importance of staying positive and focused. It’s your reputation at stake.
  • Limit exposure. Limit the amount of time spent with the offending co-worker or client. If you can accomplish work via email, do so instead of getting stuck on a call.
  • Finish quickly. Finish the project quickly and professionally. This is the time to go above and beyond. Give it everything you’ve got. Again, your reputation is on the line.
  • Lesson learned. With every difficult situation, there is a lesson to be learned. What can you do differently next time? Learn from it and move on.

At Kohl Designs, I work with fabulous clients on exciting and creative projects. Over the years, I have faced a couple of challenging projects and clients. Remembering those simple rules has helped me deal with some tough situations. Sometimes a client or co-worker may be facing pressures we know nothing about and misdirect their stress. By staying focused and professional, I have managed to provide superior customer service to all clients and projects I have taken on. I am proud of the professional reputation that I have built, and through my business and personal interactions, I have learned to take a lesson away from every negative situation.
