When a customer comes to Kohl Designs looking for a whimsical, fun, creative illustration, I am thrilled. I enjoy working with my clients to bring their ideas to life.
The process of creating an illustration is more than just picking up a pencil and doodling. It involves detailed conversations with the clients to understand their vision, and researching the subject. Only then, when I have an idea of what the client wants, can the real fun begin. I can spend anywhere from one to several hours sketching the character for the client. Once the initial sketches are created, we present them to the client for review.
Sometimes it is exactly what the client has in mind, sometimes revisions are necessary. At Kohl Designs, we have the experience to create the product you desire, and we understand the importance of working closely with you to ensure total customer satisfaction.
Recently, Mary Porter from Curiosity Zone approached us to illustrate their characters. In this particular case, the characters already existed in the form of clipart for their first music album cover, but they needed more than clipart to make these characters come to life so they can build a national brand for their company. Getting to know the story behind the characters helped me to create their personalities visually. My goal is to understand the client’s vision and bring it to life.
